Lets star RB handle Rams
Hurts (ankle) completed 15 of 22 pass attempts for 179 yards and a touchdown while rushing 12 times for 39 additional yards in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Star tailback Saquon Barkley went off for over 300 total yards and two scores Sunday, leaving little work for the passing game in a lopsided victory. On a positive note, Hurts did not appear limited on his 12 rushing attempts after dealing with a minor ankle injury during the practice week. The dual-threat quarterback is completing a career-best 69 percent of his passes this season with 24 combined trips to the end zone over 11 contests. Hurts should continue being an elite QB in fantasy when…read more

Records full practice, as expected
Hurts (ankle) was a full participant at Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Hurts entered a maintenance program for an ankle injury that he suffered during last Thursday's win versus the Commanders., resulting in a limited session this Wednesday. As expected, though, he got back to all activity one day later and thus is set to continue to lead the Eagles offense Sunday night against the Rams. Since heading into a Week 5 bye with a 4:4 TD:INT and two rushing touchdowns in four contests, Hurts has been off and running, completing 92 of 131 passes (70.2 percent) for 1,267…read more

Tending to ankle issue
Hurts was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Hurts told Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer on Wednesday that the Eagles have had him on a "mini-program" due to a lower-body issue he's been dealing with since last Thursday's win against the Commanders. There's an expectation that Hurts will follow up Wednesday's capped session with full participation Thursday and Friday, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com. The aforementioned regimen thus will allow Hurts to continue to lead Philadelphia's offense Sunday against the Rams.

Rushing TD in Week 11 win
Hurts completed 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed 10 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 26-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
Analysis: Hurts often found the going tough against an improving Commanders defense, and he went without a touchdown pass for the first time since Week 3. However, the star signal-caller was able to lean on Saquon Barkley and his defense as the second half unfolded while also contributing a go-ahead one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. All but two of Hurts' completions went to the familiar quartet of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Barkley and Dallas Goedert, and he steered clear of…read more

Scores four TDs in three quarters
Hurts completed 14 of 20 pass attempts for 202 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while rushing seven times for 56 yards and two scores in Sunday's 34-6 rout of the Cowboys.
Analysis: Hurts picked apart an outmatched Dallas defense from start to finish Sunday, resulting in his second game scoring four touchdowns this season. The 25-year-old is hitting his stride as teams approach the midpoint of the schedule, passing for 1,976 yards and 12 touchdowns on a career-best 70 percent completion rate. When factoring in the quarterback's 378 rushing yards and 10 trips to the end zone on the ground, the result is a resume for a potential MVP bid as the Eagles sit at 7-2 on the year.…read more

Scores thrice in win
Hurts completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 230 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 13 times for 67 yards and another score in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Hurts stayed hot in Week 9 with his third consecutive three-touchdown game. The Eagles' offense has been performing better as a whole, and the team's star quarterback has played a large role in the recent string of success. Hurts has contributed 10 combined scores over the aforementioned three-week span. The dual-threat QB remains a strong fantasy play against a depleted Dallas defense next Sunday.

Four total TDs in win
Hurts completed 16 of 20 passes for 236 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions and added 10 carries for 37 yards and three more scores in the Eagles' 37-17 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
Analysis: For the second consecutive week, the Eagles continued to look like the team many expected them to be entering the season, and Hurts was at the center of the resurgence. The talented signal-caller was in vintage form on the ground, where he scored from one, seven and one yard out in the second, third and fourth quarters, respectively. Hurts didn't have to do too much through the air, finishing with well under 30 pass attempts for the third consecutive game. Hurts also extended his streak with at…read more

Produces three TDs in big win
Hurts completed 10 of 14 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown and added 22 yards and two TDs on seven carries in Sunday's 28-3 win over the Giants.
Analysis: While he didn't need to air it out much after hitting A.J. Brown for a 41-yard score in the second quarter, Hurts got into the end zone himself on two second-half Brotherly Shoves to double his rushing TD total on the season. It's the third time in six games this year Hurts has failed to throw for at least 200 yards, but he's likely to need to rely on his arm a lot more Week 8 in a potential barn burner against Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

Welcomes back wideouts in win
Hurts completed 16 of 25 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Browns. He added 33 rushing yards on 14 carries.
Analysis: While it wasn't the most efficient effort, Hurts clearly enjoyed having top wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith back in the lineup, as the former caught a 22-yard TD pass in the second quarter and the latter was on the end of a game-sealing 45-yard score in the fourth. It's only the second time in five games this season that Hurts has thrown multiple touchdowns, but it's also only the second time both Brown and Smith have been healthy. Runs listless offense in loss
Hurts completed 18 of 30 passes for 158 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and added 20 yards and another touchdown on eight carries in the Eagles' 33-16 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, losing one.
Analysis: Playing without top wideouts A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion), Hurts predictably struggled to run any type of cohesive attack and took six sacks. Additionally, the fact Tampa Bay was able to jump out to a 24-7 lead over the first two quarters certainly didn't help matters, as it made Philadelphia's plan of attack all the more predictable. Some chunk gains in the second half and Hurts' own one-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter helped salvage his fantasy day, but…read more

Overcomes adversity in Week 3 win
Hurts completed 29 of 38 passes for 311 yards with no touchdowns and one interception and added eight carries for 25 yards in the Eagles' 21-15 win over the Saints on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Hurts' final numbers are made all the more remarkable by the fact he was working with a skeleton crew at receiver by the fourth quarter of the close victory. He started the day without A.J. Brown (hamstring) and then lost DeVonta Smith to a head injury in the second half, but he still managed to lead a five-play, 69-yard game-winning march in which he recorded a 61-yard completion to Dallas Goedert that set up Saquon Barkley's go-ahead, four-yard touchdown run. Accounts for two TDs in narrow loss
Hurts completed 23 of 30 pass attempts for 183 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 85 rushing yards and another score off of 13 carries in Monday's 22-21 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Hurts turned in a fine fantasy performance despite taking his first loss of the season. The 25-year-old buoyed his numbers with a rushing performance that most fantasy managers would be content with from their starting running backs. The Eagles' offensive line continues to provide mixed results following the retirement of stalwart center Jason Kelce. Hurts' ability as a runner may show up more often this season if he has less time in the pocket. Philadelphia now will head to New Orleans for a…read more

Mixed results in Brazil
Hurts completed 20 of 34 pass attempts for 278 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing 13 times for 33 yards with a lost fumble in Friday's win over the Packers in Brazil.
Analysis: It was a sloppy start for Hurts on a slick playing field overseas after committing two of his three turnovers on Philadelphia's first two drives. The 25-year-old settled in following the pick and ensuing lost fumble, rattling off four straight scoring drives for the split crowd in Sau Paolo, Brazil. Hurts did not see any action this preseason, so a sloppy game in a foreign land can be looked past for one of the top QBs in fantasy, especially after willing his team to a narrow victory to start…read more

Not expected to face New England
Hurts isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Analysis: Reiss' pre-game report on ESPN aligns with that of Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, who noted that the Eagles aren't expected to play their starters on offense versus New England. In that scenario, Hurts' final opportunity to see exhibition action will occur Saturday, Aug. 24 against the Vikings.

Doesn't suit up Friday
Hurts didn't end up seeing any action in Friday's preseason win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Reporting earlier in the day suggested that the Eagles would give their offensive starters, including Hurts, one series in the team's preseason opener, but that proved not to be the case as Kenny Pickett got the start under center and played into the second half. Hurts' next opportunity to see exhibition action will come Thursday against the Patriots.

Scheduled to play a series Friday
Hurts and other starters are expected to play one drive in Friday's preseason game against Baltimore, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: McLane notes that Philadelphia's starters could end up playing a bit more, depending on how the first series goes. That probably means Hurts will get one drive if he's able to move the ball, or two drives if the opening series quickly stalls out. Either way, he's unlikely to play more than 10-15 snaps, if that.

Learning another new offense
Hurts said the offense he's learning under new coordinator Kellen Moore is "probably 95 percent" new, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hurts will work with his fifth playcaller in as many pro seasons, having gone from Doug Pederson to Nick Sirianni to Shane Steichen to Brian Johnson to Moore. It sounds like this will be the biggest change to the Eagles' offense since 2021, when Sirianni replaced Pederson as the head coach and the team drafted WR DeVonta Smith in the first round. Outdueled by Mayfield
Hurts completed 25 of 35 pass attempts for 250 yards and a touchdown in the wild-card round of the playoffs, adding only one rush attempt for five yards in a 32-9 loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Hurts' 2023 campaign comes to an abrupt halt after he and the Eagles mustered just one touchdown in a lopsided playoff defeat to the Bucs. The 2022 MVP runner-up turned in a pedestrian passing performance despite not carrying an injury designation from a dislocated right middle finger suffered against the Giants in Week 18. Hurts' one rushing attempt Monday checks in as his lowest total over 18 starts (including postseason) this year. From a fantasy perspective, the dual-threat superstar did…read more

Hurts (right finger) doesn't have a designation for Monday's wild-card game at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Hurts departed the Eagles' regular-season finale at the Giants before halftime due to a dislocated right middle finger, but after opening the week of prep as limited Thursday, he capped it with back-to-back full sessions. On Friday, in particular, when he attempted his first passes since suffering the injury, he "was throwing deep balls, he was throwing lasers," as WR Britain Covey told Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Marcus Mariota finished the game, going 13-for-20 passing for 148 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding six carries for 46 yards. Analysis: Hurts didn't post gaudy yardage totals in Sunday's narrow defeat, but he helped fantasy squads by registering his third game with at least three passing touchdowns this season. The dual-threat quarterback couldn't supplement his passing efforts on the ground after finishing with less than 30 yards and no rushing scores for just the second time this year. Claims record in Christmas win
Hurts completed 24 of 38 passes for 301 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Monday's 33-25 win over the Giants. He added 34 rushing yards and another TD on eight carries.
Analysis: On the Eagles' first possession of the game, Hurts rode a brotherly shove from the one-yard line to his 15th rushing touchdown of the season, breaking the previous NFL record of 14 for single-season rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, set by Cam Newton in 2011. Hurts (illness) completed 17 of 31 passes for 143 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Eagles' 20-17 loss to the Seahawks on Monday. He also rushed 13 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Hurts was a game-time decision due to an illness that worsened over the weekend and required the star signal-caller to travel to Seattle separately from the rest of the team. He looked his usual self as a runner, where he racked up a season-high rushing yardage tally and posted his third two-score effort on the ground in the last five games. Analysis: The Eagles were seemingly behind the eight-ball right out of the gate Sunday night, with the Cowboys jumping out to a 10-0 lead through one quarter and adding another pair of touchdowns in the second quarter. Analysis: Hurts had just 69 passing yards and an interception through three quarters, but he got his team back into the game with a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, cutting Kansas City's lead to 17-14. His arm finally heated up in the fourth, as Hurts connected with DeVonta Smith for a 41-yard gain down to the 1-yard line to set up a quarterback sneak for the go-ahead touchdown on the next play. Sidesteps injury report
Hurts (knee) wasn't listed on the Eagles' first Week 11 injury report Thursday.
Analysis: In the three games prior to the team's Week 10 bye, Hurts tended to a left knee injury that forced him to wear a brace for the final two outings. Hurts told EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday that he used the midseason respite to rest and receive treatment on the knee and that he also didn't wear the brace at Philadelphia's initial session of Week 11 prep. Hurts thus appears set for Monday's rematch of Super Bowl LVII against a Chiefs defense that ranks fifth in the NFL against…read more

Plays through knee injury Sunday
Hurts played all 62 of the Eagles' snaps on offense in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Cowboys, but he appeared to be playing in pain for most of the second half of the contest after taking a direct hit to his left knee late in the second quarter, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hurts had already been dealing with pain in the same knee for multiple weeks leading up to the contest and wore a brace on the leg for the third game in a row Sunday. Though he's played 100 percent of the snaps on offense in each of the Eagles' first nine games, Hurts did need to leave the sideline early in the waning seconds of the first half to get extra treatment in the locker room. He was back on the field to begin the second half and turned in another productive outing for fantasy…read more

Produces three TDs against Dallas
Hurts completed 17 of 23 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns while gaining 36 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: While he didn't deliver a lot of yardage, Hurts came up big when it counted, tossing a 29-yard TD to DeVonta Smith and a four-yard score to A.J. Brown in the third quarter as the Eagles erased a 17-14 halftime deficit. The QB had earlier gotten into the end zone on a Brotherly Shove from the one-yard line in the second quarter. Four-touchdown breakout in win
Hurts completed 29 of 38 passes for 319 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Eagles' 38-31 win over the Commanders on Sunday. He also rushed four times for six yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: The Eagles got off to yet another sluggish start, but Hurts was key in bringing Philadelphia back to notch what turned out to be a furious comeback that included 21 fourth-quarter points. The star signal-caller connected with favorite target A.J. Brown for touchdown passes of 16 and 25 yards before adding scoring tosses of 38 and eight yards to DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones, respectively, in the fourth quarter. Hurts (knee) wasn't listed on the Eagles' first Week 8 injury report Wednesday.
Analysis: Hurts played through a left knee injury this past Sunday against the Dolphins, completing 23 of 31 passes for 279 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, rushing 11 times for 21 yards and one more score and losing his only fumble. Should be fine for Sunday
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Wednesday that Hurts (knee) should be fine to play without restrictions this Sunday against the Commanders, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Hurts played through the injury in Sunday's 31-17 win over Miami, albeit while sporting a brace on his left knee in the second half. While Hurts isn't expected to miss any games, it's possible that his rushing production suffers a bit in the short term.

Expected to be fine for Week 8
Hurts (knee) is not expected to miss any game action, and there's a good chance he doesn't even miss practice this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Hurts was sporting a brace on his left knee after hurting it during Sunday night's 31-17 win over the Dolphins but was adamant after the game that he is "fine." This seems to confirm that. Hurts' eight interceptions are already two more than he threw all of last season, and his touchdown rate has dropped in 2023. Hurts gets a juicy Week 8 date with the flailing Commanders. He tossed two touchdowns and threw for a season-high 319 yards versus Washington back in Week 4.

Not worried about knee injury
Hurts is believed to have sustained a knee injury during Sunday night's 31-17 win over Miami but said, "I'll be fine," after the contest, Tim McManus of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Hurts also responded, "I hope not," when asked whether his knee will bother him going forward. Though the quarterback had to play the second half of Sunday's win over the Dolphins with a brace on his left knee, three of his 11 carries came after halftime, and he still displayed his usual elite mobility in the pocket. Back on track with three TDs in win
Hurts completed 23 of 31 pass attempts for 279 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while adding 21 rushing yards and another touchdown on 11 attempts in Sunday's 31-17 win over Miami.
Analysis: Hurts recovered from the three interceptions he threw in last week's upset loss to the Jets by leading his team to victory over a cross-conference contender. The star quarterback did throw another interception (his seventh of 2023) while also coughing up the ball on one of his three sacks taken Sunday. The increase in turnovers likely has less to do with a regression in play and more to do with opponents shifting their defensive focus to slow down the 2022 breakout star. Turnovers lead to first loss
Hurts completed 28 of 45 pass attempts for 280 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions while rushing eight times for 47 yards and a score in Sunday's 20-14 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Hurts' three interceptions matched his previous career-worst mark, resulting in Philadelphia's first loss of the season. The 25-year-old nearly threw a fourth pick on the Eagles' final comeback attempt, but the ball was simply dropped by the defender and resulted in a turnover on downs instead. Despite the turnovers, the athletic QB still helped fantasy managers by combining for over 300 yards from scrimmage while recording his fourth game with a passing and rushing touchdown this year. Strong dual-threat performance
Hurts completed 25 of 38 pass attempts for 303 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding 72 yards and another score on 15 rushing attempts in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Hurts turned in his second straight 300-yard passing game en route to another win for the 5-0 Eagles. The dual-threat quarterback produced a 15-72-1 rushing line in addition to his success through the air, effectively giving fantasy managers strong QB and RB production from one position slot. Hurts now has 10 combined touchdowns through five games while increasing his volume as a passer each week. Big day through air in OT win
Hurts completed 25 of 37 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-31 overtime win over the Commanders. He added 34 rushing yards on nine carries.
Analysis: Both scores went to A.J. Brown, a 59-yard bomb in the third quarter and a 28-yard strike in the fourth, as Hurts topped 300 passing yards and threw multiple touchdowns for the first time this season. The fourth-year quarterback now has five TDs through the air and three more on the ground through four games, and he's likely to pose a problem in Week 5 for a Rams defense that just allowed Colts rookie QB Anthony Richardson to produce three scores of his own (two passing, one rushing).

Hurts completed 23 of 37 passes for 277 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Monday's 25-11 win over the Buccaneers. He added 10 rushing attempts for 28 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Analysis: Hurts got almost half of his yardage throwing to A.J. Brown (nine catches for 131 yards), but he also made two key throws to Olamide Zaccheaus on Philadelphia's first touchdown drive, as they connected for a 24-yard gain followed by a 34-yard touchdown three plays later to take a 10-3 lead in the second quarter. Hurts completed 18 of 23 passes for 193 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Eagles' 34-28 win over the Vikings on Thursday night. He also rushed 12 times for 35 yards and two more scores.
Analysis: Hurts' yardage numbers certainly won't set fantasy managers' pulses racing, but the All-Pro quarterback's three touchdowns went a long way to making up for it. Hurts' one score through the air was a beauty of a 63-yard pass to DeVonta Smith early in the third quarter to help extend to the Eagles' lead to 20-7 at the time. Manages Philly to win
Hurts completed 22 of 33 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Patriots. He added nine rushes for 37 yards while losing a fumble.
Analysis: Hurts and the Eagles played through a steady rain in New England, leaving them limited in the passing attack. As a result, he mostly distributed the ball quickly and in the short areas of the field to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, allowing his talented pass catchers to gain yards after the catch. That's reflected in his stat line, as he averaged only 5.2 yards per attempt. Hurts should be in a better position to air the ball out in a Week 2 matchup against the Vikings.

Hurts can soon turn his focus to the regular season, opening with a trip to New England on Sept. 10 and then a home game against the Vikings four days later (Sept. 14). Improving connection with Brown
Hurts has looked impressive in training camp practices, most notably connecting on numerous standout throws to A.J. Brown, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Hurts and Brown have been close friends since they were teenagers, so they naturally found chemistry quickly when Brown was traded to Philadelphia prior to last season. Now tasked with shaking off the disappointment of the 38-35 Super Bowl loss to Kansas City, Hurts is determined to lead the Eagles to even greater heights in 2023 while throwing to a talented group of pass catchers led by Brown, DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert.

Hurts completed 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 38-35 Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. He added 15 rushes for 70 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: As was the case for much of the season, Hurts was dynamic as both a rusher and passer. He made a mistake early in the game on a fumble that was returned for a touchdown but otherwise moved the Eagles offense all game. Hurts connected with A.J. Quiet performance in big win
Hurts completed 15 of 25 passes for 121 yards and added 39 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in Sunday's 31-7 win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Analysis: What seemed like it would be a fearsome battle turned into a rout after the Niners lost Brock Purdy to an elbow injury early in the game and were forced to turn to journeyman Josh Johnson (concussion) under center. As a result, the Eagles didn't really need to air it out at all, and all four of the team's TDs came on the ground. Analysis: Hurts' final numbers weren't his most spectacular by any stretch, but the versatile signal-caller was certainly efficient while parlaying three of his 25 touches into scores. The third-year star's relatively modest numbers were a reflection of how especially effective the offense was in the first half, when Hurts connected with Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith for scoring tosses of 16 and nine yards, respectively. Could push to play in Week 17
With the Eagles unable to clinch the NFC East and the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network suggests that Hurts (shoulder) could push to play in Week 17 against the Saints.
Analysis: Per Rapoport, Hurts is considered day-to-day due to the sprained right shoulder he sustained during Week 15 action, but with the Eagles still having something to play for at this stage, it's possible that their franchise QB could return to the field as soon as next weekend. Added context on that front should arrive in the coming days, but if Hurts isn't cleared to face New Orleans, Gardner Minshew would be in line for another start.

Hurts (shoulder), who is out for Saturday's game against the Cowboys, is uncertain to play in the Eagles' Week 17 matchup with the Saints on Jan. 1, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Before determining Hurts' status for Week 17, the Eagles plan to wait and see how Week 16 action plays out with regard to the NFC playoff picture as well as how the quarterback's throwing shoulder responds to rest and treatment. The MVP candidate is recovering from an SC joint sprain in his right shoulder. Gardner Minshew is slated to start Saturday as well as any future games that Hurts might miss due to the injury.

Officially ruled out for Week 16
The Eagles list Hurts (shoulder) as out for Saturday's game in Dallas.
Analysis: Head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed earlier Thursday that Gardner Minshew will pick up his first start of the season in place of Hurts, who won't be made available as an emergency backup after failing to practice in any capacity this week while managing a right shoulder sprain. The Eagles haven't decided on Hurts' status beyond Saturday's contest, but it's possible that the 24-year-old ends up sitting out Week 17 against the Saints and/or Week 18 against the Giants with Philadelphia close to…read more

Set to miss Saturday's game
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Thursday that he doesn't expect Hurts (shoulder) to be available to play Saturday in Dallas, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports. "It's looking like it's going to be Gardner [Minshew]," Sirianni said, when asked who would serve as the Eagles' starting quarterback in Week 16.
Analysis: According to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Sirianni praised Hurts' toughness and said that the signal-caller pushed to play this weekend, but after not practicing Tuesday and Wednesday, Hurts looks as though he'll miss his first game of the season. Expect the Eagles to formally rule Hurts out for the Week 16 contest following Thursday's practice, paving the way for Ian Book to dress as the backup behind Minshew. Not at practice
Hurts (shoulder) isn't practicing Wednesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Gardner Minshew is taking first-team reps after missing Tuesday's session to tend to a personal matter. Hurts, meanwhile, is absent for a second straight day due to a shoulder sprain, with multiple reports suggesting Minshew is likely to start Saturday in Dallas. The Eagles haven't ruled Hurts out yet, and they might wait until the weekend -- or at least until the release of their final injury report Thursday -- to do so even if they've already made a decision internally.

DNP on practice estimate
Hurts (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's estimated injury report.
Analysis: The Eagles held a walkthrough to begin Week 16 prep, but Hurts wouldn't have practiced Tuesday if the team had held any sort of session as he tends to a sprained right shoulder that he sustained Sunday at Chicago. While playing through through the pain in the second half of the 25-20 win, he racked up 315 passing yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions while running 17 times for 61 yards and three scores. Status in limbo for Week 16
Coach Nick Sirianni said Tuesday that Hurts has been diagnosed with a right shoulder sprain, but he also didn't rule out the quarterback for Saturday's game at Dallas, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: During Sunday's 25-20 win at Chicago, Hurts picked up the injury late in the third quarter on a rush, but he ultimately played all 73 offensive snaps. Overall, he accounted for 315 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions on 22-for-37 passing in addition to 17 carries for 61 yards and three TDs. While there were initial concerns Hurts may need to miss multiple games, Sirianni dampened them during Tuesday's media availability, telling Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports, "There's a chance he could…read more

Diagnosed with shoulder sprain
Hurts suffered a sprained right shoulder during Sunday's win over the Bears, and the quarterback's status for the Eagles' Week 16 game in Dallas is uncertain, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: According to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com, Hurts underwent X-rays after Sunday's contest that revealed the issue, and while multiple reports suggest the issue isn't a long-term one, the quarterback could be sidelined for one or two games, per Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Runs in three TDs in Week 15 win
Hurts completed 22 of 37 passes for 315 yards and two interceptions while rushing 17 times for 61 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 25-20 win over Chicago.
Analysis: Hurts came into this one with only three interceptions all season but tossed two in the first half as the Eagles fell behind 6-3 before Hurts orchestrated a nine-play, 91-yard touchdown drive to take a 10-6 lead into the locker room. He capped that drive with a 22-yard rushing touchdown, then scored from one yard out in the third and fourth quarters to raise his season rushing touchdown total to 13. Another stellar performance Sunday
Hurts completed 21 of 31 passes for 217 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 77 rushing yards and another score on seven attempts in the Eagles' 48-22 win over the Giants on Sunday.
Analysis: Hurts led the Eagles to touchdowns on their first three possessions, two of them consisting of double-digit plays. The star quarterback capped off the latter two drives with 41- and 33-yard touchdown passes to DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, respectively, and he subsequently added a 10-yard touchdown run on a late third-quarter march. Four total touchdwowns
Hurts completed 29 of 39 passes for 380 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 35-10 win over the Titans. He added five rushes for 12 yards and an additional score.
Analysis: Hurts took to the air a season-high 39 times, which also led to his best marks in both completions and yards. His effort was highlighted by lengthy passing touchdowns of 40, 34 and 29 yards -- his third game with at least three passing scores on the season. Hurts completed 16 of 28 pass attempts for 153 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 17 times for 157 yards in Sunday's 40-33 win over the Packers.
Analysis: Hurts ran wild against the Packers' four-man rush all game long, simply hitting the huge gaps the edge rushers routinely left open for big gains. The dual-threat quarterback spearheaded a Philly rushing attack that combined for a season-high 363 yards. Hurts' two touchdown throws put him at 17 on the year, already surpassing the 16 he threw over 15 games in 2021 with six fewer interceptions. Solid game-winning performance
Hurts completed 18 of 25 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown while running for 86 yards and another score on 16 carries against Indianapolis on Sunday.
Analysis: The Colts successfully stymied the Eagles' big-play offense, hoping Hurts would make mistakes when denied the big play. It was a good game plan and well executed by the Colts, but Hurts never made the mistakes Indianapolis hoped for. Undefeated season ends on MNF
Hurts completed 17 of 26 passes for 175 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Monday's 32-21 loss to the Commanders. He added 28 yards and a touchdown on six rushing attempts.
Analysis: Hurts was involved as a rusher early on, as Philadelphia's first offensive play was a designed quarterback run that went for 12 yards, and he capped the opening drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge. His production on the ground tapered off after that though, and the dual-threat quarterback fell short of 30 rushing yards for a fourth consecutive game. Hurts completed 21 of 27 passes for 243 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed nine times for 23 yards in the Eagles' 29-17 win over the Texans on Thursday night. He also committed two fumbles, losing one, and recorded a two-point conversion run.
Analysis: Hurts was under duress frequently courtesy of a feisty Texans front, taking four sacks and losing the football on one occasion. Houston also did a good job containing Hurts whenever he took off with the ball, but the third-year quarterback ultimately did plenty of damage through the air, primarily in conjunction with Dallas Goedert and A.J. Four touchdowns in easy win
Hurts completed 19 of 28 passes for 285 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 35-13 win over the Steelers. He added two rushes for 10 yards.
Analysis: Hurts was exceptionally efficient and showed rapport with A.J. Brown, connecting with his star receiver for three touchdowns of 39, 27 and 29 yards. He capped off his big performance with a 34-yard score to Zach Pascal before being pulled early in the fourth quarter. Hurts completed 15 of 25 pass attempts for 155 yards and two touchdowns while adding 27 yards on nine carries in Sunday's 26-17 win over Dallas.
Analysis: Hurts was bottled up by an elite Dallas defense from a yardage standpoint, resulting in his first game with less than 200 combined passing and rushing yards this season. Even with the low volume, the early MVP frontrunner made plays at crucial points of drives and had his team up by three scores at halftime. Hurts completed 27 of 36 passes for 239 yards against Arizona on Sunday while running for 61 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.
Analysis: Hurts was somewhat disappointing as a passer while the Eagles offense scored just 20 points, but Philadelphia emerged with the win and avoided the trap game to go 5-0 through five weeks. Hurts should do better as a passer most weeks so long as he has A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert to throw to, and, as this game emphasized, he often gets the most enviable cut of the Eagles ground game too. Hurts completed 16 of 25 pass attempts for 204 yards and an interception, adding 38 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in Sunday's 29-21 win over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Hurts struggled from the pocket against the Jaguars' pass rush, resulting in his second game with zero passing touchdowns through four weeks. Luckily for his fantasy managers, the dual threat was able to offset a poor passing game with his fourth rushing touchdown. Another huge game
Hurts completed 22 of 35 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns against Washington on Sunday. He also rushed nine times for 20 yards.
Analysis: The Eagles offense is rolling right now and defenses haven't had an answer for Hurts in his first three games. The addition of A.J. Brown has taken the offense to a new level, and so far, no defense has been able to stop Hurts, Brown and DeVonta Smith at once. Hurts completed 26 of 31 passes for 333 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Eagles' 24-7 win over the Vikings on Monday night, adding 11 rushes for 57 yards and two additional scores. He also committed a fumble recovered by Philadelphia.
Analysis: Hurts turned in an even more impressive outing than he had during the Eagles' 38-point haul in Week 1 against the Lions, putting together a nearly perfect passing performance that saw him average a whopping 10.7 yards per attempt. The mobile signal-caller also used his legs with great effectiveness for the second time in as many games to open the season, scoring from three and 26 yards out. Hurts completed 18 of 32 passes for 243 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed 17 times for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 38-35 win over the Lions on Sunday.
Analysis: While the Eagles' first possession ended on downs, Hurts came back to helm a 13-play, 82-yard march during which he completed four passes for 62 yards to new acquisition A.J. Brown and then capped it off with a one-yard touchdown run. Hurts would go on to do plenty of damage on the ground and turn in a solid effort through the air overall, even as DeVonta Smith was blanked on the stat sheet. Sharp to open preseason
Hurts completed all six of his passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 24-21 preseason loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Hurts played one offensive possession but showed accuracy to all areas of the field. He opened the performance with a 28-yard completion to Quez Watkins and moved the ball patiently down the field before capping the drive with a 22-yard touchdown toss to Dallas Goedert. Hurts is locked in as the Eagles' starting quarterback in 2022, and he'll look to build on his strong 2021 season, when he completed 61 percent of his passes and averaged 7.3 yards per attempt.

Even if he's on the field for only a brief period of time, Hurt will be able to get in some meaningful game reps with new top wideout A.J. Analysis: Hurts played through the ankle injury down the stretch of the 2021 campaign, and he was spotted in a walking boot after the Eagles' wild-card round loss to the Buccaneers. Barring any setbacks in his recovery, Hurts' procedure doesn't look as though it'll have a notable affect on his preparation for the 2022 season during the spring and summer. In walking boot after Sunday's loss
Following Sunday's playoff loss to the Buccaneers, Hurts sported a walking boot that he hinted was related to the ankle injury he sustained in Week 12, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Hurts also noted that he hopes he doesn't need surgery, but evidently that possibility could potentially be on the table as the Eagles head into their offseason. Either way, the 2020 second-rounder has plenty of time to heal up before Philadelphia re-takes the field. Though Hurts does not carry a Week 18 injury designation, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network expects backup QB Gardner Minshew to see an increased role Saturday night against the Cowboys.
Analysis: With multiple key players sidelined due to injury or their placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list and the Eagles not having a lot to gain in terms of playing seeding, Hurts is among the players the team could choose to rest or limit versus Dallas. Hurts (ankle) is trending toward approaching Sunday's game against Washington minus a Week 17 injury designation after practicing fully Thursday.
Analysis: With the full session, Hurts is ahead of where he was last week when he logged a limited practice on Thursday. In the Eagles' Week 16 win over the Giants, Hurts rushed just twice for seven yards, but it's plausible that as he distances himself from the ankle sprain he suffered Week 12, the QB could log more attempts this weekend, with Philadelphia's top two backs Miles Sanders (hand, out) and Jordan Howard (stinger) both banged up.

Analysis: The ankle injury Hurts suffered in late November continues to limit his participation in practice, even after he started and finished two straight games without incident. Hurts completed 17 of 29 passes for 199 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Eagles' 34-10 win over the Giants on Sunday. He also rushed twice for seven yards and committed a fumble recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Hurts' day -- and by extension, that of the entire Eagles offense -- began slowly in the first half before Philadelphia came alive on that side of the ball with some help from its defense over the final two quarters. Hurts did his part with a pair of scoring tosses to DeVonta Smith and offensive lineman Lane Johnson in the third and fourth quarter, respectively, his first multi-touchdown effort through the air since Week 10. Hurts also was very subdued on the ground while amassing his fewest…read more

Ready for Week 16
Hurts (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game versus the Giants.
Analysis: After kicking off the week with back-to-back limited listings on Eagles injury reports, Hurts capped it with a full practice Friday, clearing him to play Sunday. He's coming off a three-touchdown effort that included 296 yards passing and 38 more yards on the ground Tuesday against Washington. Hurts will aim to do something similar against the Giants' 19th-ranked pass defense.

Limited at Thursday's walkthrough
Hurts (ankle) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report.
Analysis: After the Eagles didn't hold a practice Wednesday, they returned to the field Thursday in a walkthrough setting. Hurts was 'limited' both days as he continues his recovery from a high left ankle sprain. He was able to gut it out and produce Tuesday versus Washington, completing 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards, running for 38 yards on eight carries and scoring three total TDs (one passing, two rushing). Limited on practice estimate
Hurts (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: After missing one game and benefiting from the Eagles' late bye, Hurts returned to action Tuesday against Washington and turned in one of his more productive performances of the season. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards, one touchdown and one interception and compiled eight carries for 38 yards and two more scores in the 27-17 victory. It's no surprise Hurts' practice reps are being managed this week less than a month removed from sustaining a left high-ankle sprain, and he'll have two…read more

Mostly good showing in win
Hurts completed 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Eagles' 27-17 win over Washington on Tuesday night. He also rushed eight times for 38 yards and two more scores while fumbling twice, losing one.
Analysis: The issues with ball security notwithstanding, Hurts turned in an strong all-around effort at a critical juncture in the fantasy calendar. The second-year signal-caller's first two scores came on one-yard sneaks in the second and third quarters, and he subsequently created some valuable breathing room with a 19-yard touchdown toss to Greg Ward in the fourth quarter. The passing yardage tally was Hurts' best since Week 4 against Kansas City, and the pair of rushing scores give him five over the…read more

Cleared for Week 15
Hurts (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Tuesday's game against Washington.
Analysis: After he was listed as a full participant on practice reports issued Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Hurts seemingly has proven to the Philadelphia coaching and training staffs that his sprained left ankle no longer is a concern. Though he sat out the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets with the injury, Hurts received some added time to heal up thanks to a Week 14 bye along with the NFL's decision to push back the Week 15 matchup with the Football Team two days due to COVID-19 concerns…read more

Remains 'full' on injury report
Hurts (ankle) was listed as a full participant on Sunday's injury report.
Analysis: Hurts opened Week 15 prep with consecutive 'limited' listings before the Eagles bumped him up to full Friday and called him questionable for a Week 15 game against Washington. But that's before the NFL moved back the scheduled Sunday matchup to Tuesday due to a significant amount of Washington players residing on the reserve/COVID-19 list. With additional time to get his sprained left ankle healthier, Hurts has continued to log full practices and may head into Tuesday without a designation…read more

Eagles-Washington moved to Tuesday
Hurts (ankle) and the Eagles will no longer play Washington on Sunday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
Analysis: Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within Washington's organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Football Team will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. The delay should provide more healing time for Hurts, who sat out the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets with a left ankle sprain before Philadelphia went on bye Week 14. Full practice, still questionable
Hurts (ankle) was a full practice participant Friday but will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Analysis: It sounds like the upgrade in practice participation won't necessarily equate to active status come Sunday, with Eagles coach Nick Sirianni essentially leaving it up in the air when he talked with the media Friday afternoon. Hurts has clearly made progress, but the team can afford to be cautious given that Gardner Minshew is one of the better backup QBs in the league and would be facing a thinned-out Washington team that's dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

Limited Wednesday
Hurts (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report.
Analysis: Earlier Wednesday, head coach Nick Sirianni told Tim McManus of ESPN.com that Hurts was "trending upwards" as he recovers from a high left ankle sprain, which sidelined him in the Eagles' last game Week 13 against the Jets. Coming out of a Week 14 bye, Hurts is splitting first-team reps with Gardner Minshew, likely as a contingency in the event the former can't go this weekend. In the end, though, the Eagles have optimism Hurts will be able to return for Sunday's game against Washington.

Trending in right direction
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Wednesday that Hurts (ankle) is "trending upwards" heading into the team's Week 15 game against Washington, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hurts and Gardner Minshew will split reps at Wednesday's practice, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, but the second-year signal-caller out of Oklahoma looks to be trending toward playing this weekend after having missed his first game of the season in the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets. Of course, the Eagles won't need to confirm Hurts' status until after he's been fully evaluated at practice over the next few days.

Hurts (ankle) is expected to be fully healthy and available to start in the Eagles' next game Week 15 versus Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Hurts' sprained left ankle caused him to miss his first game of the season Week 13, clearing the way for Gardner Minshew to pick up a spot start. The third-year signal-caller was impressive in place of Hurts, completing 20 of 25 attempts for 242 yards and two touchdowns to guide the Eagles to a 33-18 win over the Jets. Will retain starting gig
Hurts (ankle) will be the team's starting quarterback if healthy following a Week 14 bye, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hurts was sidelined for the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets due to a left high-ankle sprain, which he sustained in Philadelphia's 13-7 loss to the Giants in Week 12. Though fill-in starter Gardner Minshew was highly efficient (20-for-25 for 242 yards and two touchdowns) in his stead, Hurts' overall body of work looks like it'll be enough for him to maintain the top spot on the depth chart if he's deemed ready to go for the Eagles' Week 15 game against Washington. Hurts, who is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, has a high ankle sprain but is only expected to miss one game, Jay Glazer reported on Fox NFL Sunday.
Analysis: After spraining his ankle in Philadelphia's Week 12 loss to the Giants, Hurts practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday through Friday before being ruled out of Sunday's game. His participation in practice suggests this will be a short-term absence, but Glazer's report that the sprain is higher up the ankle adds more uncertainty to his Week 15 availability. Questionable for Sunday
Head coach Nick Sirianni said Hurts (ankle) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, after splitting first-team practice reps evenly with Gardner Minshew this week, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Sirianni sounded more confident earlier in the week, while Hurts himself said Wednesday that he would be fine for Sunday's game. The 23-year-old quarterback now appears closer to truly questionable, though it's a situation where gamesmanship could be a factor, as the Eagles' running game in particular would look different with backup Gardner Minshew replacing Hurts, who enters Sunday ranked 10th in the league for rushing yards (695) and tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns (eight). It's not yet clear whether the issue will impact the quarterback's availability for Sunday's Week 13 contest against the Jets, but coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that the team will have a better idea of the 23-year-old's status Wednesday. Analysis: Hurts could have had a game-winning touchdown pass at the end if Jalen Reagor had caught one of two on-target passes in traffic, but both were dropped and the comeback attempt ended with the score 13-7. After conducting a more run-heavy offense in recent weeks, the Eagles went pass-happy to open this game, and coincidence or not, Hurts struggled worse than he has in a month or so. Hurts completed 13 of 24 passes for 147 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added 69 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 18 carries in the Eagles' 40-29 win over the Saints on Sunday.
Analysis: Hurts once again turned in a relatively subdued performance through the air, falling short of 200 passing yards for the fourth straight game and sixth in the last seven overall. Analysis: The second-year QB failed to reach 200 passing yards for the fifth time in the last six games, but between his running and two first-half TD passes to DeVonta Smith, Hurts was able to put together a productive performance. He's now eclipsed 2,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards on the season heading into a Week 11 tilt against the Saints.

Not much passing again
Hurts completed 11 of 17 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown and gained 62 yards on 10 carries in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: For the second straight game, Hurts attempted fewer than 20 passes, and for the fourth time in the last five games he threw for fewer than 200 yards. What tosses he did make mostly went to DeVonta Smith, as the rookie hauled in 71.6 percent of his passing yards. Hurts' running gives him a strong fantasy floor, but the Eagles' reluctance to let him loose as a passer limits his ceiling heading into a Week 10 clash with the Broncos.

Hardly needs to pass in win
Hurts completed nine of his 14 passing attempts for 103 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and added seven carries for 71 yards in Sunday's 44-6 win over the Lions.
Analysis: The Eagles were able to run at will on Detroit and had a three-score lead at the half, so Hurts' arm took a back seat in this one. All of his passing numbers were season lows. On the bright side, he led the team in rushing. With a much better opposing offense on tap in the Chargers in Week 9, the 23-year-old will likely have to throw more to keep up the pace.

He also hit Dallas Goedert for a two-point conversion. Hurts will take a 10:4 TD:INT, plus five rushing TDs, into a Week 8 matchup on the road against the Lions.

Analysis: The second-year signal-caller simply couldn't find any consistent rhythm as a passer, but his ability to make plays with his legs still left his fantasy managers pleased. Hurts scooted in from six and two yards out in the second half to help the Eagles make things interesting, a pair of scores that were preceded by a five-yard touchdown toss to Zach Ertz in the first quarter. Analysis: Hurts endured a nightmarish first half, passing for just 74 yards on 24 attempts while seeing a shotgun snap sail over his head and roll out of the end zone for a safety. To make matters worse, the signal-caller had a badly overthrown interception in the third quarter, which came after his team lost another fumble the possession prior. It appeared that Hurts had connected with Jalen Reagor for a 36-yard touchdown during the team's third offensive possession, though the call was eventually overturned. It's unclear if coach Nick Sirianni will have any of those players, including Hurts, participate in Philly's final exhibition Friday, Aug. 27 at the Jets, which may not allow the second-year QB and rookie first-round WR DeVonta Smith to work in a game together before Week 1.

Looks for TEs in preseason opener
Hurts completed three of seven passes for 54 yards and rushed once for four yards in two drives of work in Thursday's 24-16 preseason loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: All three of Hurts' completions went to tight ends, as we got a preview of an Eagles offense that's likely to feature plenty of looks for both Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz. The mobile quarterback didn't use his wheels much here, but Hurts will likely utilize his rushing ability more once the games start to count. Backup Joe Flacco was significantly more effective against Pittsburgh's backups, producing a touchdown and two field goals on four drives, but Hurts remains locked in as Philadelphia's…read more

Likely to suit up Thursday
Hurts and the Eagles' starting offense will play in Thursday's preseason contest against the Steelers, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: While he has an improved supporting cast around him, Hurts also is learning a new system, so taking a test drive with the first-teamers in Philly's exhibition opener is no surprise. Coach Nick Sirianni wouldn't divulge exactly how long he'll allow the starters to remain on the field, but in any case, Hurts will be without 10th overall pick and college teammate DeVonta Smith for most of the preseason slate as Smith recovers from an MCL sprain, leaving Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham…read more

Improving at camp
Hurts was sharp at Monday's practice, enjoying his best day of training camp so far, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Analysis: Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia agrees it was Hurts' best practice this summer, with highlights including perfect throws on a go route to Quez Watkins and a deep out to Travis Fulgham. The second-year QB completed nine of his first 10 passes in the team portion of practice, but on a less positive note, he did lose top receiver DeVonta Smith to a knee sprain later in the session. Shorr-Parks notes that Hurts has steadily improved throughout camp, building up to Tuesday when…read more

Gets Heisman-winning new target
Hurts was reunited with former Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith after the Eagles selected the wide receiver with the 10th overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft, Tim McManus of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Although Hurts hasn't officially been named the Eagles' starting quarterback, selecting a receiver rather than another signal-caller seemingly cements him in the role even further. It also gives the 22-year-old another first-round weapon to throw to after Philadelphia took Jalen Reagor out of TCU last year. It's certainly a major upgrade for a receiving corps that compiled the third-fewest receiving yards last season (2,082).

Yet to be named starter
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and general manager Howie Roseman were both noncommittal on Hurts entering 2021 as the team's starting quarterback, CBS 3 Philadelphia reports. "To name any starters at this particular time...we've been working with these guys for two days," Sirianni said during an April 21 press conference. "My biggest thing is competition. We're going to have competition at every position."
Analysis: With a new coaching staff in the fold for 2021, all of the Eagles' returning players will have to earn their keep, and Hurts is no exception. As the roster currently stands, Hurts' main competition for the starting job is 36-year-old Joe Flacco. After trading down from the No. 6 overall pick in this week's NFL draft to the No. 12 spot, the Eagles seemingly aren't in position to select any of the top signal-callers on the board, though it won't necessary preclude them from investing an early…read more

No job battle ahead?
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie wants to make Hurts' success the priority in 2021, rather than emphasizing competition at quarterback, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
Analysis: Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News has a different take, hinting that the Eagles still aren't sure about their second-year signal-caller. While Hurts sits atop the depth chart with Carson Wentz (Colts) out of the picture, Bowen and other Philadelphia beat writers have suggested the Eagles could pick a QB on Day 1 or 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft. This latest report from Mortensen doesn't seem concrete, but it at least does give us a hint about Lurie's thinking with the No. 6 overall pick.

Left atop depth chart
Hurts is the Eagles' top QB after they traded Carson Wentz to Indianapolis, though the team could still draft another signal-caller, according to Les Bowen of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Analysis: Already owners of the sixth overall pick, the Eagles added a 2021 third-rounder and a conditional 2022 second-round pick in the Wentz trade. What they do next depends on their confidence in Hurts, who had eight total touchdowns -- but also three INTs and six fumbles -- over the final four weeks of 2020. The 22-year-old is a clear favorite for the Week 1 start at this point, but the Eagles still have time to add competition, or at least a high-end backup.

Benched late in losing effort
Hurts completed just seven of his 20 passing attempts for 72 yards, no touchdowns and an interception while adding 34 yards and two rushing touchdowns on eight carries before being benched in favor of Nate Sudfeld in the second half of Sunday's loss to the Washington Football Team.
Analysis: Hurts will finish his abbreviated time as a rookie starter with a 52 percent completion rate, 1,061 passing yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions to go along with 354 rushing yards and three more scores on 63 carries over 15 games (three starts). Controversy has swirled around the 2020 second-round pick from the time he replaced Carson Wentz to his benching Sunday in a game that enabled Washington to clinch the NFC East division with a 7-9 record. Set to start season finale
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Hurts will start in the Week 17 game against Washington, Daniel Gallen of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
Analysis: The Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention with Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Cowboys. Hurts will close out the season under center for the Eagles, aiming to play spoiler for Washington. Through three games as a starter, Hurts has completed 62 of 113 passes (54.9 percent) for 847 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions, and he's added 238 yards and a score on the ground. His accuracy could improve, but Hurts has still recorded a respectable 7.7 yards per attempt this season, on par…read more

Tops 400 total yards in loss
Hurts completed 21 of 39 passes for 342 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions and added 69 rushing yards on nine carries in Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: The rookie set a new career high in passing yards in his third NFL start, topping last week's 338 while once again posting strong numbers on the ground. However, he also committed multiple turnovers for the first time as the Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention. Hurts will at least get a chance to play spoiler in Week 17 as Philadelphia hosts a Washington club that needs to win to lock up an NFC East title.

Officially named starter again
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Hurts will start at Dallas in Week 16, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: The announcement doesn't come as any sort of surprise, given how spectacularly the rookie signal-caller has resurrected Philadelphia's offense in back-to-back starts. Hurts is coming fresh off a close loss to the Cardinals in which he went toe to toe with Kyler Murray, accounting for four total TDs while passing for 338 yards and rushing for another 63 yards. Given the playmaking abilities Hurts has displayed, both through the air and on the ground, he projects as a high-end fantasy option…read more

Accounts for four TDs in defeat
Hurts completed 24 of 44 pass attempts for 338 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Cardinals. He also carried 11 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in the 33-26 loss.
Analysis: Hurts completed just 55 percent of his passes, but seven passes of more than 20 yards helped him pile up an impressive yardage total. He connected with Quez Watkins and Greg Ward (twice) for touchdowns in a big second quarter and later scored his first career rushing touchdown. On that note, Hurts made several plays with his legs and has now generated 169 rushing yards on 29 attempts over his first two starts. Drawing another start
Coach Doug Pederson confirmed Monday that Hurts will start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hurts was dynamic in Sunday's 24-21 upset win over the Saints, running for 106 yards while also avoiding mistakes through the air, with 167 passing yards and a touchdown. Considering the struggles Philadelphia's offense has endured with Carson Wentz under center this season, and how effective Hurts' skill set looked in his first NFL start, it doesn't come as a surprise to see Pederson commit to the rookie for at least another week. Runs wild in win over Saints
Hurts completed 17 of 30 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 18 times for 106 yards in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Saints.
Analysis: The New Orleans defense hadn't allowed a 100-yard rusher in 55 straight games, but both Hurts and Miles Sanders (115 yards and two TDs on 14 carries) reached that mark in the upset win. Hurts didn't exactly dazzle as a passer, but considering the quality of the opposition and the final result, it was a very successful first NFL start for the rookie. Taking over as starter
Head coach Doug Pederson plans to name Hurts the Eagles' new starting quarterback ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Philadelphia will pull the plug on incumbent Carson Wentz after he again presided over an unproductive offense in last week's 30-16 loss to Green Bay, which dropped the Eagles to 3-8-1 on the season. After Wentz was removed in the second half, Hurts at least provided some semblance of a spark, completing five of 12 attempts for 109 yards, a touchdown and an interception to go with 29 yards on five carries. Starter for Week 14 undetermined
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that he hasn't yet decided whether Hurts or Carson Wentz will start Sunday's upcoming game against the Saints, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Hurts replaced Wentz in the third quarter of Sunday's 30-16 loss to Green Bay, and he managed the first passing TD of his young career while commanding the Eagles' final four drives. Pederson said Hurts provided "the spark that got us back in the football game," per Kristen Rodgers of FOX 29 Philadelphia, a likely allusion to the fact that he accounted for the Eagles' only offensive score of the day. Throws first career TD in loss
Hurts replaced Carson Wentz at quarterback early in the third quarter of Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Packers, completing five of 12 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown with one interception. He also gained 29 rushing yards on five carries.
Analysis: The Eagles produced only a field goal in the first two quarters, and after Wentz led them to another three-and-out to begin the second half, Hurts got the call. While he wasn't particularly efficient in the first extended action of his NFL career, he did toss a 32-yard TD to Greg Ward midway through the fourth quarter for Philly's only offensive touchdown of the day. Likely to see added snaps Monday
Hurts is expected to see increased playing time at quarterback behind starter Carson Wentz in Monday's game against the Seahawks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Eagles have mostly deployed Hurts as a gadget player through their first 10 games, but this week, Rapoport notes that "unlike previous snaps, Wentz won't be on the field" when Hurts is out there. In preparation for Hurts taking on an expanded role, the Eagles have handed the rookie second-round pick increased reps with the first-team offense during recent practices, per Tim McManus of ESPN.com. According to Rapoport, the added usage with the first team is expected to result in Hurts seeing…read more

Will keep seeing designed plays
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that getting Hurts involved on designed plays is "something we'll continue to explore" each week, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
Analysis: Pederson also suggested that Hurts could handle packages out of the backfield if Miles Sanders (knee) is forced to miss any time. The rookie signal-caller provided Philadelphia's offense with a few much-needed sparks during Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Ravens, though his insertion into the lineup was only occasional. On three touches Sunday (two carries, one reception), Hurts totaled 26 yards, and he also served as an effective decoy during a 74-yard run by Sanders which, after a fumble, resulted…read more

Deemed active Week 2
Hurts is listed as active Sunday against the Rams.
Analysis: Just one game removed from opening his pro career as a healthy scratch, Hurts will serve as the No. 2 quarterback to Carson Wentz, Chris McPherson of the Eagles' official site reports. The 2020 second-round pick will swap in for Nate Sudfeld, but it remains to be seen if Hurts will make any sort of impact or merely has surpassed Sudfeld for the backup gig.

Healthy scratch Sunday
Hurts (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday at Washington.
Analysis: A healthy scratch to begin his NFL career, the 2020 second-round pick will don street clothes while Nate Sudfeld serves as Carson Wentz's backup. Without an injury to the two quarterbacks in front of him, Hurts may be a regular inactive for the Eagles for the foreseeable future.

Starts off as No. 3 QB
Coach Doug Pederson said Carson Wentz and Nate Sudfeld -- rather than Hurts -- will get most of the QB reps during training camp, Daniel Gallen of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
Analysis: It isn't the first time Pederson has hinted at Hurts beginning his career as the No. 3 quarterback in Philadelphia. That said, the rookie took 16 snaps in a sharp performance at Monday's practice, while Sudfeld got 17 snaps and didn't play nearly as well, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP. Even if Sudfeld enters Week 1 in the backup job, Hurts could oust him before the end of the season.

Likely to open career as No. 3 QB
Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday that while Hurts will have the opportunity to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job, the rookie is likely to begin the season behind both Carson Wentz and Nate Sudfeld on the depth chart, Matt Mullin of PhillyVoice.com reports. "Football teams are going to have to rely on their veteran players, and Nate is one of those guys for us. I have a ton of confidence in Nate to become the backup quarterback," Pederson said. "Nothing is ever handed to anybody, and we always try to create competition at every position, and quarterback is not exempt from that. But I fully expect Nate to come in and be aggressive and do the things that he's capable of doing and become the backup to Carson."
Analysis: Though the Eagles used the 53rd overall pick in April's draft on Hurts, that investment alone won't give the rookie the leg up in the job battle with Sudfeld, who is entering his fourth year in the Eagles' system. The shortened offseason in light of the coronavirus pandemic will only make it more difficult for Hurts to gain familiarity with Pederson's offensive scheme, so his first year in the NFL could be more of a developmental one, at least from the perspective of a traditional quarterback.…read more
